Initial or Renewal
The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.
In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students are also required to take a written test. The student will then receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider certification card upon successful completion of the class.
The course completion card will be sent as an email from AHA. Students must follow the directions on the email to claim their card. This course is appropriate for professional rescuers: nurses, EMTs, dental / doctor’s office staff, and many other healthcare professions. There are no prerequisites for this course.
